On Sunday, October 26, Team MiraKind will take part in the Crown Point 8K/5K in San Diego. We’re walking and running to raise awareness and support for the mission that drives our work. And we need your support!

Why October?
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to honor, remember, and rally. While many will raise awareness, we’re taking it a step further: we’re moving—literally 🏃♀️—to drive research that could transform the future of cancer care.
How MiraKind Is Changing Cancer Care
At MiraKind, we study inherited genetic variants that help us better understand cancer risk, prevention, and treatment. These variants affect tiny molecules called microRNAs, which play an important role in how the body responds to stress—like damage to our DNA from illness, injury, or even cancer treatments.
One example is the KRAS-variant, a genetic biomarker linked to a higher risk of several cancers, including breast cancer.1-6 Research suggests that maintaining estrogen levels may help lower that risk in people with the variant, especially during menopause or after an oophorectomy.7
But we don’t stop there.
MiraKind has identified hundreds of additional genetic variants like it, allowing our research to benefit an even larger community of people who carry these important biomarkers.
